I have never been a big fan of video games until Final Fantasy 8 came along back in 1998. My big brother was the hard core gamer in the family and I would always shake my head every time he had friends over for game tournaments. But when he introduced me to Final Fantasy 8 I was awestruck. The game had a love story and the characters were all very good looking and had a natural charisma. I especially fell in love with Squall Leonheart, the main guy character and Irvine Kinneas, his ally. Squall was not your ideal hero. He had a sour disposition, was aloof, and never cared much for socializing. He was the opposite of Irvine, a guy who was cheerful all the time and charming to everyone he met. For the girls, my favorite would have to be Rinoa Heartilly and Selphie Tilmitt. Rinoa was not your typical heroine. She was free-spirited and strong-willed. Selphie was somewhat like an imp and quite childlike. But it wasn’t just the characters that I liked. The gameplay was also strategic and the plot of the story was very riveting. I was so addicted to the game that some years later I decided to include a little tribute to it to the website I was planning to create. Now I can share my passion and love for this game to today’s generation of gamers.
